as a CERTIFIED HACCP AUDITOR

(A Certified HACCP Auditor is a professional who understands the standards and principles of auditing a HACCP-based (or process-safety) system. A HACCP Auditor uses various tools and techniques to examine, question, evaluate and report on that system's adequacy and deficiencies. The HACCP Auditor analyzes all elements of the system and reports on how well it adheres to the criteria for management and control of process safety…as defined by ASQ)

ASQ AND CERTIFICATION

ASQ has been the leading quality improvement organization in the United States for more than 50 years. It is acknowledged as a world-renowned organization, which advances individual, organizational, and community excellence worldwide through learning, quality improvement, and knowledge exchange.

Since 1968 , when ASQ started its first certification examinations, more than 100,000 individuals have become certified through ASQ. More than forty countries offer ASQ's programs as their method for certification. The certification examinations are even conducted in Japanese, Korean, Chinese and Spanish. Sites for ASQ certification examinations are located all over the world, including Malaysia .

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of QMC's program on CERTIFIED HACCP AUDITOR, participants are expected to have achieved the following:

  • Enhanced understanding in applying the principles processes. procedures and practices of HACCP Auditing in their work place
  • Ability to apply auditing techniques and skills to implement and manage an effective HACCP audit program and perform audits
  • Increased confidence and be prepared to sit for the external CHA certification examination of the ASQ

PROGRAM STRUCTURE

This program comprises 41 CONTACT HOURS of learning through lectures, group workshops, questions and answers and review sessions. It is divided into 9 modules, comprising of 7 tutorial sessions, 1 examination session and 1 final review session. Sessions will be held for 5 designated days. A full-day tutorial session is 6.0 hours, from 9.00 am to 4.30 pm .

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Auditors, Food Technologists, Microbiologists, Food Hygiene & Sanitation Officers, Food Safety Management System Executives, HACCP Team Leader and Members, Supervisors and those wishing to acquire in-depth knowledge and skills in HACCP Auditing.

Food safety staffs that need a formal recognition in HACCP Auditing and those wishing to sit for ASQ examination and to be certified as a CHA .

PROGRAM PREREQUISITES

All wishing to attend the program must be proficient in English. Those who wish to sit for the ASQ CHA examination must have:

  • At least 2 years working experience and a Degree from a University or Institution of Higher Learning, OR
  • At least 5 years of working experience if without a Degree from a University or Institution of Higher Learning.

PROGRAM LEADERS

As this program is “intensive” and “straight-to-the-point”, consultants leading the sessions are selected based on experience and expertise in the specific topics. They are practitioners who are academically / professionally qualified.

The program director overseeing / leading the program is Mr. Yong Kok Seng.

Mr. Yong is the Country Councilor (Representative) of Malaysia and Vietnam to the International Chapter of the ASQ. He is an ASQ Certified Manager of Quality / Organizational Excellence / Certified HACCP Auditor / Certified Quality Auditor / Senior Member / Charter Member of the Quality Audit Division / Recertification Chair Reviewer for Malaysia.

He is a Technical Expert / Resource Personnel for the Asian Productivity Organization (JAPAN), a Technical Expert & Life Member of the Asia Pacific Quality Organization, and an Australian licensed TQM Consultant. He is a registered Senior Management Consultant of the RABQSA International, and a Founder Member of the World Quality Council. He is a Founder Member, past President, and Fellow of the Institute of Quality Malaysia . He is listed as a HACCP Consultant with the Ministry of Health, Malaysia.

Mr. Yong has co-designed and developed the 5-days IRCA Approved Food Safety Management System (ISO 22000: 2005) Lead Auditor Course for an IRCA Approved Training Organization. He is a co-tutor who has conducted the first such Lead Auditor Course in Asia.

Mr. Yong is a very experienced professional in auditing. He has:

  • performed system audits for numerous certification bodies
  • designed and implemented programs on audits for multinational corporations
  • conducted management systems lead auditor training courses
  • conducted audit training program on a public basis and in-house for certification body and multinational corporations

TRAINING METHODOLOGY

Pre-test, questions and quizzes (with model answers), lectures, group workshops and discussions, and post-test will be used to enable participants to grasp the program contents more effectively. Assignments will be given out from time to time.

TRAINING MATERIALS


Up-to-date and comprehensive training materials / handouts will be given to each participant. Recommended lists of reading materials shall be provided.

INTERNAL EXAMINATION & AWARD OF QMC 's CERTIFICATE

A 5-hour internal examination (consisting of 135 multiple-choice questions) will be conducted at the end of the program. There will be four grades of performance (Distinction, Credit, Pass or Fail) on the results of the internal examination. A Certificate of Achievement will be awarded to participants who pass the examination.

Others who fail will receive a Certificate of Attendance. Maximum of 1 re-sit is allowed for participants who fail the examination.

EXTERNAL ASQ Certified HACCP Auditor EXAMINATION

Participants who have successfully completed this program and / or meet the requirements of ASQ will be assisted in their application to sit for the ASQ CHA Examination. The external examination fees payable to the ASQ will be borne by participants. (Note: ASQ CHA examination fee is USD 360 for Nonmember of ASQ and USD 210 for ASQ Member).

Verification of application, examination center (in Penang ) and proctorship will be arranged for participants.

HRDF TRAINING GRANT - SBL

Companies who have contributed to the HRDF are encouraged to apply for training grant from the HRDF under the SBL Scheme. Interested companies are required to fill up the SBL application form and submit to the HRD Council together with the necessary supporting documents BEFORE the commencement of the program. Applicants can liaise with us for advice.

SPECIAL IN-HOUSE TRAINING

Companies who have many participants for this program may enquire about conducting it on an in-house basis.
